William R. Warren, Jr. is a visionary artist, illustrator, and traditional and computer animator. His
published credits include work for ANALOG SCIENCE FICTION/SCIENCE FACT, AMAZING
STORIES, WRITERS OF THE FUTURE, ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S MYSTERY MAGAZINE,
TOMORROW SPECULATIVE FICTION, the Ballantine Books' STAR TREK CONCORDANCE,
MINUS TEN AND COUNTING, WET VISIONS, and THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PHYSICS. He
also created the cover for the 1976 World Science Fiction Convention program book and other notable
publications in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. His computer animation,
produced for Boeing, has appeared on all three major U.S. television networks, as well as CNN, PBS, and
the British Broadcasting Corporation.
A past judge on the Writers of the Future Contest, Warren has been the Artist Guest of Honor at numerous
science fiction, fantasy, and horror conventions throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as (at various
other times) Toastmaster and Fan Guest of Honor. His work has earned him over one hundred awards,
including Best of Show, Best in Category, People's Choice, Judges' Choice, and Special Recognition.
He is also a published fiction and non-fiction writer, lyricist, and poet. He has produced motion picture
and video special effects, sets, miniatures, and backgrounds.
He lives in a Victorian-era haunted house with his wife Joy, his son Robert, and a menagerie of critters
ranging from a box turtle to a semi-domesticated walrus. Daytime finds him still working a 9-to-5 at
Boeing Graphic & Media Design Resources as an artist/illustrator specializing in computer-generated
imagery.
